A 25 metre waterfall with wading pools, and a whirlpool
This is one of the many waterfalls that are situated around Khao Luang National Park, each being accessed by different roads around many of the other amphoe in Nakhon province. Promolok can be found a few kilometers off the main road from Phrom Khiri to Meuang Nakhon, by heading west at the small roundabout with the statue of Vishnu.

At the car park, head to the left of the snack stall, and follow the wooden stairs and platforms to the first tier. Here you can continue along the platforms, or walk along the rock by the side of the river. The platforms get quite rickety a bit further and there are a few broken planks of wood here and there, so the route over the rock is recommended. That said, there are signs warning that this can be a slippery route, so care is needed either way. Here is a small whirlpool which would probably be more impressive at the end of rainy season, and nice views of the river as it runs further down its course. The next tiers are only about a hundred metres away, and offer the wading pools under the main falls which come down a sheer wall of rock that gives rather a nice effect.

It is unfortunate in that entry to any part of Khao Luang National Park costs 200 baht for foreigners and some of the waterfalls are just not impressive enough to warrant the price on their own. But once you have paid, you can enter any part of Khao Luang on the same day with no further charge, so if you can plan a day out visiting two or three of these small falls, the entry price looks more like a bargain.
