At the further end of the
Hin Ngaam beach is the Issara Beach Resort: a long established resort with direction signs all the way back to the main road. It sees few foreign visitors, but enough English is spoken to be able to order food and book rooms, and there's no reason why it shouldn't get a little more business.
Though the grounds are a bit empty in places, they have a nice range of rooms with two fan-only rooms with a shared bathroom going for just 400 baht a night, then there's three small aircon rooms at 700, two larger aircon rooms at 900 and five newer and nicer aircon rooms with balconies at 1,200 baht. All of these have a fridge and TV, except for the fan-only rooms and they're all nice enough inside, though the small aircon rooms are really not very big. But they're big enough for a few nights stay at least.
The restaurant has a thorough menu running to a few pages, and though there's not much here for the foreign palate, there's lots of very reasonably priced Thai food. Quick meals of fried rice, curry on rice and various noodle dishes go from as little as 40 baht, then there's lots of main meals that range from about 80 baht to 150 baht, and at the top of the menu there's a spicy salad made with horseshoe crab eggs at 260 baht, and a page of seafood specials which all depend on how much you want to eat. There's yam spicy salads, som dtam and laab under the Isaan dishes, and it'd be difficult to run out of choice even if you were here for a while.
It is a different atmosphere from the Prasaansuk and Kruay Poy resorts at the other end of the beach, and that's mainly due to the wide, open space of the grounds. But prices are comparable, if not a little cheaper, and it's definitely worth a look if you're in the area.
